How to Clean a Facial Steamer

A facial steamer is a simple appliance that produces steam for facial treatments. Facial steamers are available as smaller units meant for home use as well as spa packages meant for large scale use in spas and salons. In order to keep your facial steamers clean and in proper working order, its regular cleaning is very important. Scales from water can be built up over time in the steamers which can affect the efficiency of the appliance. Therefore, follow these simple steps to keep your facial steamer clean.

Step 1

After unplugging your facial steamer, wait for it too cool. Then empty it out, making sure you have drained out all the water.

Step 2

Put 2 tablespoon of white vinegar, commonly used in home kitchens. Next, fill the steamer with water. Pug it so that steam begins to form.

Step 3

Allow the water to steam for 30 seconds until the water level lowers a bit but does not go lower than the low-level mark. Turn the steamer off and let the solution settle in it for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Drain the vinegar and water solution from the steamer. Now, fill the steamer with distilled water and steam it for 10 minutes. Drain and steam with distilled water again in order to remove the odor of vinegar

Tips and Warnings

Facial steamers should be regualry cleaned i.e. once per week is it is used frequently such as in spas and salons.

Do not leave either water or vinegar solution over night as it can corrode different element in the facial steamer.

Do not add oils directly into the water. Try to use distilled water to make steam.
