Tips to Make Your Computer Run Faster
A computer is one of those devices that can make a person’s life very easy but if this machine is not properly maintained than it can cause frustration among users. This is because if there is no proper maintenance than the PC becomes too slow resulting in delays in work. There are some tips that can solve the problem of the PC being slow. Some of these tips are expensive but others just require some mere configurations and customization.
De-fragment your computer from time to time, to make it work faster. De-fragmentation means that all the files are arranged according to their size and types. This results in execution of program faster because the computer does not need to search the whole hard drive in order to find the relevant program. In order to defragment first click the start menu followed by programs, accessories and then system tool command. In this there will be a defragmentation tool, click it in order to defragment. By doing so, the speed of the PC will increase for free.
Other way to speed up computer is by adding more memory size on the PC. This will cost something as one would have to buy the extra memory devices and fix them on the PC.
Some other ways of making the PC more efficient include daily maintenance of the machinery. This means that the PC is dusted everyday because accumulation of dust causes the processor to overheat, which might not only cause slowing down of the PC but may result in serious injuries as well. Then memory and other devices (power supply, upgrading the processors etc.) should be checked frequently, and an anti-virus should be installed and updated every now and then. Programmes such as RegInOut clean the registry and hence providing extra space. More memory the PC has, faster it will run.

I think after the mad rush of the holiday season I will have to try some of the ideas here to speed up the laptop as everyone complains how slow it is.
I may try transferring some old photos to a separate hard drive to store but not sure it well help make it run quicker the laptop is bit ancient. Thank you.

When I go to defrag my computer, a window always pops up telling me ot doesn't need to be defragmented. I did it anyhow and like you said, it runs faster. Why am I told that it doesnt need defraging? Good hub and rated up!

The defragging of the pc is a big thumbs up for me. I share a laptop with my partner and our combined use really stuffs the hard drive with stuff. I needs regular defragging. Also eliminating unnecessary files off the machine helps. I dumped over 1Gb of crap out of the temp files here the other day. Thanks for the hub.
