This concept of saddlebags comes from the ancient concept when horses were used to carry luggage. This old concept has been used and morphed into something modern and contemporary and that’s how we have saddle bags today. Since a car is spacious it can store a heavy amount of luggage but a motorbike having limited space cannot be as such used for carrying luggage but that has changed with the introduction of saddlebags. Saddlebags very easily serve the purpose of carrying luggage or any other items and that too without occupying much space as everything is stored in the saddlebag itself. The three basic things that should be kept in mind while buying a saddlebag are that they can be easily and securely mounted on the motorbike, can be locked properly and are easily accessible. A mounting hardware is essential for mounting a motorcycle saddlebag. Motorcycle bags that do not provide clear instructions as to how to mount a bag on the bike are not safe for the drivers as it could lead to serious consequences. Any bag that is not mounted properly could lead to serious and sometimes fatal accidents too.
The second important instruction is that saddlebags that can be easily and securely locked should be chosen. This way one is at ease mentally when you are away from your motorbike.
As mentioned earlier a key factor while looking for a good pair of motorbike saddlebag is their ease of accessibility. What is basically implied when one says ease of accessibility is that the buckles can be opened and closed without having to buckle and unbuckle the straps.
Additional features associated with motorcycle saddlebags are detaching ability, reinforcement and color matching. More than often what is witnessed is that motorcycle riders are opting for saddlebags that can be mounted on and off the motorbike within seconds. This feature is common in the more expensive saddlebags.
Another trend that seems to be catching up is of color matching. Bikers are going for colors that go with the color of their bikes as this adds to the look of the motorbike.
